Default Fender Bolt

Working on '68 and the driver side lower fender bolt just in front of the rocker panel has broken off. Before I try and remove, does any one know how to access the inside of this panel to spray some penetrating oil/spray?

Not sure you can but if you spray it plenty it should follow the threads in. Kroil is the best stuff out there if you can find some.

Thanks for the tip on the spray.... I'll give it multiple applications and hope it comes out. Hope I don't have to drill it out.

Turbo86,
The back side of those bolts are visible from the engine compartment just behind the wheelhouse/inner fender. You need an inspection mirror to see them but should be able to get some spray in from that side using the tube extension on the can. Hope that helps.

For those who are reading this forum chain, I checked and these bolts can only be accessed via the kick panel access hole on the driver side. The passenger side can be accessed by kick panel or the fire wall at the heater core/fan panel opening. They are completely hidden from view but and (with small arms) you might be able to feel the bolt. Like mentioned above, you can use a 1/4" tube extension on the spray lubricant and get down deep in the panel just in front of the rocker arm. I've attached a picture looking into the fire wall hole where the blower fan and heater core cover is mounted. You can see the dark area in the pick that has the lubricant. This is also a good area that should be checked out for rust. Lots of debris and dirt can plug up the drain hole at the bottom and water can collect in this panel. I got lucky and the interior of my car looks good.
