Default Factory tach install help

I just pulled the factory fuel gauge out and need to install new factory tach in its place.

Tach is much deeper than fuel gauge?? Do i need to cut the cack of the area where original fuel gauge
was? Does factory tach split into two pieces?

Baffled.

Please Advise.

Thanks, Eric

did same conversion, take a dremel and cut out the back of plastic dash cluster. the tach will fit fine. it seems like you have to be careful to leave enough material to attach tach to. run the tach wire to coil and ur rolling

Actually did the same just recently. My guage cluster is a reproduction, but there were lines marked on the reverse side showing where to cut. Look closely, yours may have them as well. I just used a small coping saw with a very fine blade, and it worked perfectly.

Looks great installed too.
