Engine & transmission matching

Engine & transmission matching
Hello,
I'm looking forward to buying my first muscle car ( Camaro 68). I'm looking for a car for 5 months now. I found one which is in pretty good condition, however the photos of the underside show a strange connection between the engine and gearbox.
I don't have any technical knowledge, I'm looking forward to educate myself with my new hobby.
Is it possible to match the engine and gearbox like that? (the engine is 350 with four speed) It is stated that the car is running and driving good, but I wonder if this could bring problems in the future. Sadly, because I don't live in the US I can't visit and test drive the car before buying it.
Cheers

The old 3 and 4 speed transmissions didn't have the bell housing (where the clutch and flywheel reside) attached it was a seperate piece, looks like this one is missing the tin flywheel/clutch inspection cover on the bottom which is not uncommon.
