Edelbrock Intake? Yes or No

Post Edelbrock Intake? Yes or No

So with my car i also got an Edelbrock C3BX intake manifold. It had been sitting in a shed for some years and was not clean when it was put away. So if i am going to use it then im going to sand blast it and get it all cleaned up and make it look pretty.

My question is, is this a good intake to use with my 400 small black? I plan on putting an Edelbrock 600 CFM 4bl on it. So will this work, is it worth cleaning up? Looking for anybodys input.

Im not sure about the C3BX and the 400. I would definitely send Edelbrock an email and ask them. they are good about helping with stuff like this. sorry, not much help. hope you get it figured out.

It was a good intake back in the day. Was designed to work with a Holley 3 barrel (secondaries had one big butterfly instead of 2), but you can slap a 4 barrel on it. It's a medium rise, dual plane manifold, but the funky runner in back makes it so you don't have enough clearance to use an HEI distributor. There are better more modern day manifolds you could use, like the Eddy Performer Air gap for instance. But hey, this C3BX is at least better than a stock intake.

By "runner" you mean the tube that the fuel/air mixture is flowing through. That sucks because i was going to put that HEI distributor on here. I sure am glad that i posted about this before moving forward. Guess i will have to go and buy a new one. Which is not always a bad deal. Thanks for the help.

I would also suggest that you go with a newer intake. Check out Ebay for one, the performers are usually around $50 and the price for the others are good for used ones. As for the 600 carb, to feed the 400 inches I would get a 750 for the best performance. The 600 is very small for that many inches, it does work well with a 350.

Another vote for going with a NEWER intake...
The Performer would be a good inexpensive choice.

I didnt think i needed a 750cfm but i trust what you guys say on here so that is what i am going to do. Thanks for all the help

For a 400, yes a 750. A 350 would be fine with a 650 cfm carb.
