Default Dies while idling

Got a 67 Camaro and have had it for about 5 months. Never had an issue with it. Adjusted the choke last night---didn't start on first key turn--had to give it gas to get it started. Figured I would make it a little richer to provide more fuel. After the adjustment, I let it run for about 5 min--everything was fine. When I left the house this morning, it idled fine in the driveway and at the stop sign going out of the neighborhood. Come to the first light and let off the gas to cruise up to it, and it stalls out. Got it started right up again, but as soon as I let my foot of the gas, it died again. Had to have my foot on the gas to get it home. Any suggestions???

Why did you adjust the choke?
The first step in any choke adjustment procedure is to locate the proper specifications for your car from a factory shop manual.

Most earlier pull-off specifications were keyed to a drill bit size, while later Rochester carburetors used a more exact choke angle gauge.

The following troubleshooting tips are based on an otherwise correctly tuned engine, where the choke circuit has been determined to be the cause of the problem. The stated symptom can only be applied to a condition that calls for the choke to be evoked (not a hot engine problem).
Hard starting?

Starts and stalls within a few seconds?

Loads up/blows black smoke after running a few minutes?

Stays on fast idle too long?

After the engine warms up, the choke butterfly should be straight up and down. If it isn't opening, your choke isn't working correctly and a choked warm engine will stall out.

Carburetor engines are different than EFI engines.
As said, choke adjustment is critical and a trial & error effort.

When engine is hot and not running, remove air cleaner and open and hold throttle, manually close & hold choke in place, release throttle, then release choke.
Start engine and adjust fast idle for 1400-1600 rpms.
Snap throttle releasing fast idle cam, set curb idle, replace air cleaner and turn engine off and let sit over night.
Next cold start, you have to press throttle to close choke as it also sets fast idle cam, and squirts a shot of fuel for start.
Start engine and adjust black cap for smooth fast idle.
This should provide an eon of smooth running, if carb is set correctly

Thanks guys. Choke was not closing when the engine warmed up. Spent about 5 min on it and good as new and back on road.

??? Glad to hear it's running now, but the choke should be opening when the engine is warm.
