Default Crate Engine orders

I order a crate engine 12/29/10 and deposit half the amount. Due date was on 2/15/11, they said, anywhere between 4 weeks to 6 weeks. They called me 1/28/11 to collect all the money. They made me feel the engine was going to be ready within 3 days. Today 3/3/11 still waiting. They said , engine not ready yet.
Does it take that long to build a engine?

Me thinks they are pulling your chain. Whom did you order from?

sure has the smell of a scam. who was it and how did you pay. sometimes you can get your credit card bank to recoupe the funds.

Question

It would probably help if you could tell us where you purchased the engine at. Is it a reputable company? A Well known name?

I never heard of them before. I went to Daytona Speed Way Turkey Run, the company had a display and sales men showing the types of engine they remanufacture. I took a trip to their shop and was very impress with the setup. I don't want to say yet who they are. I am going next week for a suprise visit to check to see if the engine is almost ready(going on 10 weeks). If not I am going ask for a refund or dispute it with my credit card co.

I reputable shop that specializes in crate engines should have them in stock and not make you wait months for one. They should be able to assemble one in a matter of days, unless you ordered something way out of the ordinary.
