this is why i post here. yes, it is 350 but did not get a chance to get the engine tag for 69 camaro yet (did on RS and it is matching). i will see if i can get it. keep you posted.

 

For the 67 RS, I was able to get and decode the engine tag (VI22..ME) but for X44, the guy sent me a picture that look like a VIN on the engine. did they ever put VIN on 69 Camaro?

 

The partial VIN on the block is what makes the engine matching numbers. The last 6 digits on the VIN tag should be on the block for it to be considered "numbers matching". On that same pad is also where the engine code should be: Camaro Decoding help on Chevy-Camaro.com
The "ME" code was used on the 67 and 68 327, 210 h.p. engine, 2 barrel carb, with a powerglide trans.

I thought you could get non SS 350's in 69? L65 2 barrel? vs the L48 350 4 barrel? 67 and 68 350= SS

 

If you're referring to the LM1 option, then that would be one rare car. That was a very short lived, early production option, and most if not all were pre-X code era. This one is a later production X code car.

 

I don't think 27K 350's as rare.

 

Ooh, I sit corrected then. I didn't realize there were that many L65's out there. Did that info say anything about the production run length, if it ran into the X code time frame, unlike how the LM1 didn't (that's what I was referring to as rare)?
