camaro 396 ss "big red"
Hello everybody,
I'm Stéphane from France ,so my apologizes for my poor English.
I would like request your help about the topic above.The boy firend of my aunt owned a convertible camaro powered by a 396.The car was an ss model and the guy had this car in the late sixties in France at twenty years old (!!!).It's was a "gift" of his grand'mother!!
Recently ,as we speak about the car ,my aunt told me that the car was a 396 ss big red model,because in the engine compartment was installed something with the inscription "big red " on it.
She does'nt recall anything more about that.
I contact different fans of the camaro here in France but nobody has been able to give me the right explanation about "big red" meaning.
Does anyone can give me this explanation ,please?

I'd say it was a nickname the previous owner gave it.
The Big Red racing team began in 1987, so it wouldn't have been their car in the late 60's. You didn't say what year yours is, but theirs is a 1969 touring car with a 540 big block.

Mine is a 1979 Z-28 RS Pro-Touring Camaro .And the only "Big Red " Camaro I know about is the one I gave the web sight to.And I first heard about that car ,was in a Hot Rod Magazine article .When it was competing in the Silver State Open.

I 'm afraid you have not totally understand my request.The camaro owned by the boyfriend of my aunt was a regular model ,not a race car.My aunt told me in the right side of the compartment engine, thus under the hood in the same line of the passenger side ,there was a great part (but I'm not a specialist in camaro's car ,I just own a 70 corvette) circle shaped and above this part was wroten "big red").
So I would like to know what kind of camaro 396 ss owned the guy with this inscription.
I hope ,this time you could well understand request and sorry for the language.
