I am restoring my all original 67 Camaro that I have owned since 1990. It has less than 70K miles, as far as I know, and everything is original. I am in the planning phase and already thinking about paint. I had been thinking about painting it a dark red with black racing stripes. Now it seems the more I think about it I'm thinking about going with the original color of Butternut yellow, to keep with the original theme. However, I really don't like that color all that much. Any and all thoughts would be appreciated. Thanks.

You have to ask yourself, "Why am I keeping it all original?" If your reasons are strong enough then you should put it back stock. If not its your car do as you want. I mean if we are talking rare RS/SS 375 hp car and you change the color you are reducing the value 10's of thousands of dollars. If its a 307 base model I am not sure that buyer is going to care a huge amount maybe 2k or you might have to just wait a little longer to find a buyer that agrees with your choice. .
Not sure how much research you have done but these car where only designed to last 5-8 years and only came with a 12 month warranty. People started restoring these cars in the late 70's The chance that one made it to 1990 all original is slim. I am not saying yours is not a survivor but by 1990 most of the cars in the North had body work done and most of the cars in the south had a lot of interior work done.

Gorn is correct in your options. If your keeping for your self, then do what you want. If you want to sell, then do what the market wants and get the most bang for your buck. I have a all original 68' and in the middle of a full restoration. It's a simple 327 Sport Coupe, nothing special and no options. I will be keeping it original for the simple fact that it was my dad's and I have a personal attachment. I will never sell and pass down to my two sons. Once you make a decision, stick to it, don't let others push you into making changes.

Not much else to say other than the previous posts. Its hard to give you an answer when each person can be bias based on what they did with there own car. I guess you would have to focus on what you want out of the car. I have never seem the yellow car in person and believe its not a common color, especially if that's the original color. If you want to focus on original, paint it yellow. If you hate the color and your keeping the car for life, then any color will work to make you happy.
