RE: Advice on 69 Pro Touring purchase
sounds right if all that is done by a shop, you can scratch the 10 on interrior and include that in with misc, a crate motor will be half the cost. you can find a car that some one started and lost the funds to complete. It is just like uncle bill said, but you can get a good starting point car then put the rest of your plan to work. There are cars out there just have to look........if i had the money I would get a 35K car and then throw in a GM 572 motor . But thats just me.

If you can do the work yourself, it will be less
I don't think you will find a car that customized to you, either settle for something with a different setup, or build it your own...
If you want a newer reliable engine, go with the LS1 w/ 6spd...you can probably find one with transmission for around $5,000 tops, bolt-ons and cam and it will be a low 12sec car.

RE: Advice on 69 Pro Touring purchase
Be patient. I looked for about 3-5 months before getting my 69.
I got base car with extra parts (body panels etc...) for $6400
Bought More body pannels, about $5k
350 complete $1500.
Doing most of the body work myself so.... MIG welder $200+/- , tools (already had - roughly $3-$5k)
I should have a solid car without paint for that much, now I have to think about time + wife + kids + work = sometime next fall/winter.
I will probably dump another $2-$3k in for misc stuff, oil, primer, wires etc...

Does anyone want to venture a guesstimate to go down the road of doing it yourself-
solid car - $10k?
engine - $10k?
tranny/brakes - $5k?
interior - $10k?
paint - $10k?
misc - $10k?

you can get a real nicecrate engine and tranny for under $7500.
brakes you are a little high
ten grand for an interior would get you some of the best work out there
I'm paying over $5K right now to just have two tone changes made (not a full job)on a brand new GTO that is perfect, so if you are looking for perfection and top class work, unless you body is PERFECT, you can add another 50% to that cost
I think you should actually do a lot more research before you even might want to see which way you're going to go. I've seen too many people start a project and spend way too much and sell it half finished fora huge loss
I've also seen people pay big bucks for a car they thought they loved, but then realized it was too much car for them, and they didn't know enough to upkeep or maintain it, then ended up selling that for a big loss
take your time and do a lot of research and you won't regret it

1969SS - what do you mean by that? How much work is there in keeping something up like that?
What do you guys think about this one:

I agree, unless you enjoy the restoration process, you will probably spend more than $44,000 and have countless hours and headaches with the work.
I'd buy it now if you had the money

I couldnt agree with cpl on this anymore. Take ur time. I bought the black and white car when I was 14. Broken almost every near part as possible. Only about three years ago I decided to tubb the car. So yes in three years I have only really completed nearly 35% of the car. But I am not rushing it. DONT RUSH YOUR CAR. You will only have problems. I am taken my time and doing it right. It will be complete when it gets there. Have fun in ur search.
