Hi, I am planning to get a 1969 Pro Touring Camaro, and wanted any feedback advice from the experts here...

In general, I am hoping the car has:
-- new moden engine, doesn't have to be crazy HP but preferably good power - 400-450 dyno HP and drive on pump gas
-- not sure if I want auto 6 speed or manual, but new tranny
-- new interior with bucket seats
-- new glass, rubber trim
-- decent aftermarket rims
-- nice paint, undercarriage, all the finishing touches
-- hideaway lights, but I actually prefer the less chrome of a non-RS model
-- numbers don't need to match, doesn't need to be SS
-- finished engine compartment
-- 4 disc brakes and proper sports front and rear suspension
-- A/C
-- preferably an updated dashboard with new speedo,etc.but not required

How hard do you think it is find something like this? What is the value of this type of car? I am thinking they range from $30k-$50k depending... is that about right?

Any advice on what ELSE to look for when considering a purchase? Is there a checklist or something when checking out a specific car that has all of the features above? Besides having a mechanic check the engine,are there any other major issues?

You just described the car You want. You've made good choices, now go find it.

I would think it would be hard to find one like that that someone wants to sell. With the Hp you want you are gonna want a big block car. You may be better off getting a solid car as cheap as you can and putting in all the new stuff you want. It is alot easier to find a car and make it perfect then to find one with all the things you want.

usually if someone builds something to that extreme, they do it because they are plannning on keeping it

you are probably better off finding a nice solid basic car and building it as you want it, in stages

 

A car like that is more around (whatever you are willing to pay). There are cars like that out there, its just finding one for (whatever you are willing to pay) is the hard part. Why not build one yourself?

 

Agreed that it will take some time, but I have to think that it is more affordable to buy one that has been done up than do it yourself. I can just see all those receipts adding up...

 

only if they are willing to take a huge loss, and for the car you are lookin for ,The people that built it won't be hard up for money enough to take the loss. What ever way you go look to spend the whole 50k
