Advice on this '67 Firebird 400
I know this is Camaroforums but I'm looking for an F body. Im looking at this 1968 Firebird 400. Guy is asking 5K. Its got matching numbers, motor and trans was rebuilt 8 years ago and not had any real miles on it. The motor has been removed bc his plan was to do a full resto but he needs the money.
The body is good save for a little rust near the rear window. The hood isnt mounted but comes with it. It needs 2 front fenders. The rest of the panels, floor pans, etc are good to go. The seats are in GREAT shape.
The only thing it needs is carpet, headliner, and door panels. The windshield has a small crack. He has agreed to get it running if I want to buy it.
Thoughts?

the only rust is around the rear window? where.? just that bottom? the floor pans, trunk floor, shock towers all rust free? How do the quarters look around the wheel wells? If all that is good the its definitly worth $5K... especially if hes gonna have it running and drivable for you. Fenders, carpet, door panels, headlliners are cheap bro. If the rest of it looks like what Im seeing then you should have already brought it home for that price. That is... if you want a Firebird. I like it.

Looks like a very solid foundation. Asking price seems fair given the description, especially with it being a 400. I'd still try to knock him down to $4k since he "needs the money" (that's the last thing a seller should ever tell a buyer btw). 1st gen Firebirds are nice cars, and you don't see very many of them around compared to Camaros. Good luck with it.

got him down to $3900. Ill be sending the money tomorrow and it should be loaded on the rig and headed here Friday morning. the rust was around the trunk seal and its minimal. im pumped. i set out to get a Camaro and wanted the SS396, even if it meant buying that motor. this comes with the 400 for that price. i want this thing to be BOSS...

69 Firebirds, when done right, are sexy as hell imo. you just need to be sure this is what you intend to keep. because if you want a SS396 Camaro and this thing never makes you happy once you get it going, you will always regret it. and thats the LAST thing I want for you. our advice is strickly on the condition of the car and the price. please make sure its a good trade for you from an SS396 and that you will be happy with.
