Sounds expensive, cause with all that, your going to want to replace your subframe, control arms and convert to rack and pinion steering too :-)

You should have a very nice car when your finished!

i plan on going to a salvage yard and pick up a few turbochargers from imports, it won't be alot of boost, maybe 3 psi each, but twin turbocharging it to 6psi will yield in the 600hp range. the good thing about turbos is a boost controler, i can tell the wastegate to open at 0psi, meaning my engine is the only thing running, giving me about 400hp at the wheels

Just thought i would throw my 2 cents in.
in my opinion anything over 500 hp for a street car is pretty much a waste of money.
today you can build a sb with close to or at 500 hp for under 5g that will run on pump gas, use a healthy built auto or muncie with a 12 bolt rear and your good to go, no need for roll cages,3000 dollar brake set ups etc...
I would think you could find a real nice 69 body wise with a weak or blown engine
in the 10-15 g range.
you have the right idea buy the car for the condition of the body (no rust or bondo) the best money you can spend on a classic cause motors can be changed easily quarter panels cannot!!

Sounds like your already trying to figure out how to be economical. I like that!

Sounds like you may have to get yourself a nice Tig welder too. You'll save a ton in the custom fabrication for your turbo's and besides, welding if fun, especially when your fabricating custome pieces for your ride.

Keep dreaming, it's good t dream. It's a lot of hard work when those dreams start to become reality (Unless you've got a lot of money to pay other people), but in the end, it's all yours, and it will be something to be proud of.

I'll answer your questions in order- Gorn-where did you get the idea that this is a 50k car?
Burnt 68, i cant remember if i said this already but i plan on getting a boost controller, so on the street it has a brake hp of about 400. Im family friends with the owner of a racetrack, so defiantly drag strip. Stovebolts-thanks man, its nice to hear support for my dreams. dreamcar-im in Oklahoma, but i'm willing to travel a bit to get a good car, what if you sold the engine and trans to collectors at a swap meet, they'd appreciate the parts more than i would
