Hello, I'm wondering if anyone knows on a car without hidden headlights. And with the black egg crate grills. Is the headlight trim rings painted Black or are they Sliver? I know the outer part of the grill gets painted same color as car along with the top bar that fits onto the plastic grill. But I've seen different cars, some have the head light rings Sliver and others as the rings painted Black. So I've been looking to see which way was the "correct" way.

 

its my understanding that they were all the same color Silver. obviously different trim levels meant some came with the little chrome ring on the front edge and some did not. Ive seen a few paint black at shows and swap meets but when Ive ask, they were all re-painted.

 

All models, except for the SS, got a silver grille.
The SS got a black grille, unless the car color was black, then it got a silver grille.
Headlight bucket trim matched the grille color.
The grille surround was painted body color.
If your car isn't an SS, and it has a black grille, the grille has been replaced. For the longest time, only black grilles were available in the aftermarket, but you can now get a silver grille.
