69 has me depressed
Hi everyone
I have a major delema and am hoping someone out there can help. I live up here in the frozen north and my 1969 Z-28 was parked in my garage for the winter. When I went in after our long cold winter I was totally shocked to find mice got into the car and under the headliner and rear seat the mice dad formed an entire colony of mice condos complete with house insulation, dog food, with a fecal and urine drenched head liner and rear carpet.
The head liner was hanging down 4 to 6 inches. I got in with a mask and gloves, cut and removed the entire head liner, pulled the rear seat out and I vacuumed everything but here is my problem . The smell is so bad that you can not even sit in the car. Does anyone out there on the forum know how to get the smell out.
Any help would be appreciated.

Nature's Miracle
But first you're probably going to want to remove the carpet altogether, spray it with a carpet cleaner, and power wash it, And then treat and scrub the bare floor. If some odor still remains inside the car, cut the tops off a couple boxes of baking soda and set them on the floor. Spreading coffee grounds around and vacuuming up after a while is also supposed to help with smells, but I haven't tried that one.
Of course, mouse prevention is easier. To keep them away next season, set traps around the car, and set moth ***** on the ground around the tires. Scattering dryer sheets on the car floor is supposed to help keep the critters away too.

If you are really desperate clean out the mess and get an industrial ozone generator, place it in the car and let it run for a few days. The ozone "O3" will oxidize most anything, so be sure not to be inside the car with the machine working or your lungs will rust.
Thanks to all of my fellow Camaro lovers for your help and advice. I have the ionizer rented for next weekend and have removed the carpet as well as the head liner.
Which company would you recommend for me to purchase the carpet and head liner. There seams to be different head liners out there. I have a black interior with the black and white hounds tooth interior.
Thanks
Again

PUI is the stuff I use its pretty darn close to the original stuff in terms of pattern and feel of the material. Have never bought carpet or headliner for a camaro but used on a 65 impala ss and a 65 el camino with great results.
Fabreeze works well on getting smells out. I have used headliners and seat cover kits from PUI and they are as close to originals as I've seen. I would use a mild detergent on any thing I could get to first, then spray with Fabreeze. If you can't get the smell out I'll have a trailer there to pick it up in a few days
