Default 69 chevy 427ci motor

Can someone tell me the difference between a 1969 427ci industrial/commercial engine and a regular engine? Also would there be any chance on rebuilding this for a performance street motor? Thanks for the help!

where have you heard of this engine?

are you just talking about a four-bolt block opposed to a two-bolt?

a lot of people buy old truck blocks for their cars and they just have a higher deck height

I actually bought a 1969 chevy fire truck that has a 427 in it. The guy I bought it from said it was an industrial/commercial engine but I dont know what he is referring to or how it affects the engine. Thanks for the reply

Does it run on gas, Get the block numbers off the back of the block above where the trans mounts and we can run them for you, He may just mean it's a heigh torque Low HP motor.

It has a .400" taller deck height than a car block. The industrial/commercial 366 and 427 cid were commonly known as truck blocks and like 1969SS said, all have 4 bolt mains. These make pretty goon race blocks, th increased seck height allows a easily built stroker.
