Default 68 Steering question

Hey guys,
Just got a '68 Camaro, the car is all done with the exception of paint.
Pretty much new everything from top to bottom.
One question though, the power steering seems to not return to center, if that makes sense. What I mean is, the car wants to stay turning when going through corners. If I kind of let go of the wheel as I exit the corner, the wheel will not go straight, it will stay in the direction it was initially turned to. I have 68 Chevelle also but it has a manual box, and of course my new Silverado is power assisted, not quite the same.
Is this normal for an all power system? I had a '69 with power steering but that was back in the late 80's and I cant remember what it was like.
Thanks,
Scott

No that's not normal. Your front end must need an alignment. "Caster" is one of the three alignments that would be checked. And that is what straightens the wheels back out after a turn, and keeps them tracking straight down the road. There is a possibility that a previous owner was cranking down on the sector gear adjuster on the top of the steering box, and got it too tight. If that was the case, the wheels wouldn't straighten back out, even with a good alignment.

Thanks, I will check both of those things out. I appreciate the help.
