Default 68 Bird sbc install...pics....

Hey all i'm new here and i know this is a camaro site but all the reading i've done it seem like the poncho guys frown on this swap so i thought i'd come here and do some research. I'm doing this swap for my bro in law and i just need some insight. I've pulled the 400(not original) out of the car and now waiting to get the new one to install....I have a camaro tranny X-member and wondering do i just get the camaro sbc motor mounts to set this motor in? The wiring and gas lines and all that jazz i have figured out just getting a head start...thanks...

tranny....

just wondering what other parts i'm going to have to get.....going to be installing frame connectors.....I've been reading that the rear end is a bolt in 8.2 but in my expirence all the bolt in rears i've seen the bolts on the axles go out towards the wheels and the bolts on this one come in(so there are threads and nuts on the back of the backing plate not bolt heads or ovals) is this still a bolt in? i'm more familiar with 8.5 so i'm new to these. Also going to be looking into a brake upgrade also...thanks guys..

Nice starting point. Not sure if I would put a chevy engine in a convertible bird though. You will need chevy frame mounts for the swap. As far as the reat end goes 8.2 or 8.5 if it is the original gm rear end that is the size of the ring gear. The nuts and bolts on the backing plate have nothing to do with the axles. All they do is hold the backing plate to the axle tube. That gm axle you have there is c-clip axles. Not sure what you mean by bolt-in.

why would you not put a sbc in a conv.....is there a difference? Also i am aware of the difference between a 8.2 and 8.5......I'm saying i've only really messed with 8.5 and when you have BOLT IN axles the ends of the tubes where the bolts come through if there is a bolt head or oval not a nut and threads and the end of tube flares out it has bolt in axle which means the axle bearing retainer holds the axle in so when you break one it don't slide out and leave you sitting on one wheel.....i seen alot of people saying that the bird came with bolt in rear end so i looked and it has what on a .5 would be a c-clip so is this a c-clip rear end too?? Also this is getting frame stabilizers and brakes in due time......thanks for any advice...
