68 and 69 console differences

Default 68 and 69 console differences

Are there any differences between 68 and 69 councils I believe I have a 69 Council going in my 68 And I'm being told the shifters are different and the Muncie I'm picking up tomorrow is a 69 with the bolt on linkage not the studs and I want to make sure the shifter will work in the council I think I need to 69 shifter how can I tell the year Council I have thanks for the help it's been a box for over year can't remembered but I think it's 69

For a shifter to work in a console car you have to have to offset shifter handle. Otherwise the console will prohibit the shifter from being able to get into reverse. 68-69 console bases are the same, holes are the same.

I did it the budget way on my first 69, heated and bent the chrome shifter arm to give it a dog-leg right and up. Nobody will ever know once the boot is on.
Doing that does shorten the shifter though, which was fine with me. Consider it a poor man's short throw!

thanks guys just closed the garage door we got the new muncie in and the new shifter and the console with gauges it cost a good buck but looks sweet and there was a tag on the back side of the carpet with date of apr 1968 thought that was cool cant wait for spring to get her back out on the street lol

man, I thought you loved your Camaro Brotheren? how could you even think about posting that without pictures for us to drool over?! glad you got it in man. and even thought it was $$$.... a console with gauges is a good investment, at least thats what I told my wife!

Size:  55.1 KB guess it worked tryed it from my phone and it worked lol need to get a boot for the shifter and put the original radio in or get a new 1 not sure yet

Looks good love my console with gauge in my 68. You going to put the tach in the dash now since your fuel gauge is in the console now?
