For a shifter to work in a console car you have to have to offset shifter handle. Otherwise the console will prohibit the shifter from being able to get into reverse. 68-69 console bases are the same, holes are the same.

I did it the budget way on my first 69, heated and bent the chrome shifter arm to give it a dog-leg right and up. Nobody will ever know once the boot is on.
Doing that does shorten the shifter though, which was fine with me. Consider it a poor man's short throw! |
thanks guys just closed the garage door we got the new muncie in and the new shifter and the console with gauges it cost a good buck but looks sweet and there was a tag on the back side of the carpet with date of apr 1968 thought that was cool cant wait for spring to get her back out on the street lol
