Default 67 rs/ss 396

ok guys, got a new project and needed a little info. picked up a 1967 RS/SS 396 camaro, auto with deluxe interior, mountan green with the black chin strap. question is, the back panel is supposed to be black but not sure if it should be gloss, satin, flat? mine was stripped and painted looks around the 80's where they filled in every emblem hole and painted over the SS logo on the grill guessing to hide what it was. your help would be great, thanks guys

this has been the subject of much debate over the years. Without getting into too much detail, I say go with satin and you will be as close as youre gonna get. the only glossy black tail panels were on Yenko 427's I believe. alot of people are painting them Glossy these days just because they like it that way but Satin is closer to the mark. from the originals Ive seen in person.... flat would be "too dull" and semi-gloss would be too much.

Satin, for sure. Be sure to repaint the tail panel as the General did.
