Yeah, you're right, models 1975 and older is exempt. So yes, you can remove the pump and attached stuff, but I would definitely hang on to it just because.

Is there a thread that shows how to rework the rs headlights
How much work would it take to fix the factory ac
Not sure what you are wanting to do with the headlights but I found this web page with lots of diagrams. Don't know if this will help you or not.

Interesting info on the Ca. smog stuff. California required makers to install the smog pumps on cars entering the state since 1971. I think the rules for pre '75 cars are for those that come into the state not equipped with Ca. emissions. I also believe there's something in Ca. rules that says you can't remove any emissions controls, even on cars older than 1975. They have to remain as delivered when new.
Might check before removing anything. My '71 came with all the smog stuff when I bought it in 1973, and it was a Ca. car originally, before coming north to Oregon.

I looked up the CA law first before posting what I did earlier, so as not to put my foot in my mouth (I don't care much for filet of sole)
1975 and older cars are exempt from emissions testing. Being a tree-hugger state, yeah that surprised me too. California Smog Checks - Emissions Regulations, CA Smog Testing Stations - DMV Guide

Thanks for the info.

Well i stripped down the car and found some rust areas I have to fix.
How would I fix the roof area without replacing the entire roof. Its only rusted along the top of the window area.

For the lower portion between the glass and the trunk lid I have a replacement part I will weld on.

Also how do you guys think i should fix the rust by the passenger door?
Can I buy replacement patches? Or do i have to buy the entire piece?

for me, the rotisserie allowed me to take my restoration a lot further than i would have with out. welding, sanding etc gets old real quick when you have to do it over head while lying on your back or contorting your body in a way that hurts. I've herd 67' factory AC control panels are quite valuable.
