Yeah hindsight is always 20/20. IDK what TCI initially installs in their remans assuming they just reuse whatever the donor core had in it. 8 tooth drive gear is pretty common for passenger car TH350 but who knows what a donor TH350 came from.

Mine, I put in my 67 after pulling the PG. I paid $100 for it from a friend who said "it came out of a runing 70 GM van". I didn't want to chance what condition it was in so took it to a shop for a rebuild. It had one of those exsternal speedo reduction gear deals on it. The shop asked what gears I wanted as they don't know what car its going in (I installed it) nor what rear gear or tire size. I knew what I had in the PG so told them 8 drive and 24 driven to mirror what I had in PG

You can buy the external adapter which takes a minute to install. They come in various ratios. In the calculator link I posted there is a picture of one, "ratio adapter". Just get one of those the right ratio you need
