Default 67 camaro

hi guys
I’m from Victoria Australia and I’ve just bought a 67 camaro, the car has a matching motor and vin but I’m unsure what sort of motor it is. The car has been dressed up to a SS but I don’t believe it is as it’s doesnt have the 4p code on the vin tag. It has a 3970014 casting number. Can anybody help me?
Thanks
nick

Welcome, Nick, and congrats.
For engine ID, look at front pad on block, pass side, in front of cylinder head and engine code will be stamped.
Example: T1012CHC = Towanda assembly plant, Oct 12 build date, and application for engine, aka, 350-300HP, manual trnas or something.
Get code and look over at site www.nastyz28.com for more info.
Read up on history at www.camaros.org
Good investigative work on your part for the lack of 4P on Trim Tag, VIN plate for a '67 is riveted on drvr door jam between the door hinges.

It looks like the engine pad has been ground down and a new number has been punched in to match the vin on the car When I check the block casting number it says it’s from a 73-76 model car

Looks like deck has been decked/machined ever so slightly, maybe ensuring it is flat.
Pad is usually not lower than pump.
Plus I don't see the original brooch marks as on a std block deck.
