Default 67 Blinkers Not Centered

67 Camaro with tilt steering column.

Blinkers work fine for right turn but not left.

When turning on left blinker, blinker arm will not go down. Feels like its hitting something. If I turn steering wheel a few degrees it will work but turns off almost immediately.

Seems like the blinker switch or cam that turns blinkers off is not quite right and needs to be rotated/adjusted. Can they be adjusted or do they have to be replaced?

Steering wheel is centered.

Stock steering wheel, or aftermarket?

You're going to need to remove the steering wheel then, to see what's going on in there. See if someone messed with the cancelling pin on the steering wheel. Or the cam on the switch could be broken.

69 Camaro,

Thanks for the info.

I'm gonna dig into it tonight and see what I find.

Took it apart last night.

The black plastic part with the cam that cancels the blinkers was cracked/broken. I ordered a new one from Classic Industries.

Question - What goes on the shaft first, the heavy spring or the black plastic ring with cams?

On mine the spring was on first with the cam on top of it but it just didn't seam to look right. I have the AIM manual, shop manuals, etc, but can't find an exploded view of my steering column to confirm it.

I have the auto tranny shift on console with tilt.

Jim Shea (steering column extraordinaire) answered my question.

In case someone else down the road has the same question, the spring goes on first, then the cam canceling piece.
