Default 502 Oil Pan Fit?

Did a quick search and didn't locate much on the topic, but was wondering. Has anyone here installed a GM crate 502 in their 67-69 Camaro, and if so, did the supplied oil pan fit? I sit at work and wonder these sort of things (Probably should have my mind on my job)

Did they show a picture or part number of the 502 your looking at? I ask because there usually is a breakdown of GM part numbers that where used on it. You could compare those to other GM part numbers for the pans on replacement parts for First Gen big blocks and see if they are similar.

My "guess" is it should be the same or similar pan that would be common on Big Block GM cars from the late 60's. My "guess" is it should'nt be a problem if the pan shows that the deep section is to the rear.

I'd also guess when ordering you could specify your putting it in a first gen and they may have a different option for the pan for first gens.

With the new pan part number a good GM parts guy can back track the numbers and tell you all the old numbers it used to be and one may match the pan intended for the first gen

I'm pretty sure the 502 is just a 454 block... and the 572 is a tall deck 454 block, so it should fit.

I just put a 509 in mine with a Moroso pan it it fit with no clearance issues. So I agree with the other guys to work with your supplier.
