406/4 speed
Ok guys I got a problem,
Just got done breaking in my 406 on the break in stand and pulled the 355 out of the car today. This 406 was origanally built for my Chevelle, which was an automatic. Now it was going to go into the Camaro which has a muncie. The crank is drilled on the 406 so I got a flywheel balanced and proceded. Now with everything out of the car, I was getting ready to pull off the "Z" bar ball from the 355 and then it hit me, I never checked the 406 block to see if it was drilled for a "Z" bar. It's not! Now I'm knee deep in the 406 (all new build, aluminum heads, big cam, all top of the line stuff) the Chevelle has been sold and the Camaro is without an engine at the moment.
Any ideas? Is it possible to drill the 406 block and tap it?

You can drill and tap a hole, if it has a big enough boss area like the blocks that do have the hole.

Don't know if this bracket will work, or if you can make it work on your Gen I engine (it's attached by two bellhousing bolts).
At least it may give you an idea on how to make one, or get one made if you can't yourself.

Yes it does have the boss area available. I was thinking about drilling it and tapping it.
Ater looking at that bracket maybe I'll go that rout. Looks pretty cool.
At least there are some options.
