Default 383 w/saginaw w/4-11 rear end

help please I just installed a saginaw trans in my 68 camaro with a 383 stroker and a 4/11 posi rear end, I took the car out for the first time last night and it runs great but in 4th gear im only going around 35mph and a high rpm... 1st and 2nd are crazy short shifts 3rd is a little longer but not much and 4th is not any better. I cant find anything online and im stuck here so any help would be great!
Thanks!

im suprised the saginaw is holding. they are not a very strong tranny they would blow behind a 210hp 327ci small block.

fourth should be 1:1 and shouldnt be revvin like crazy at such a slow speed. is the saginaw a factory unit with stock internals?

also do you remember the numbers on the side that should tell u the type and then you can find what gear ratios for each gear.

If your engine is at a high rpm in 4th gear at 35 mph, then your clutch must be slipping. Make sure you used the correct throwout bearing for the style pressure plate you have.
If you used the long style bearing where you should have used the short, the pressure plate will not engage fully.

wouldnt that create a smell since this will eventually burn the clutch up?

Might, might not. Years ago, I accidentally put in the wrong throwout bearing (never trust the guy behind the parts counter). It was a gradual slip that got progressively worse the more I drove and wore the clutch lining down, not like smoking it off the line, and it didn't give a burn smell either. If his clutch is slipping more than it's grabbing, I wouldn't expect it to create a smoke show.
