1969 ss
Looking to buy a 69 ss camaro X11. I know X11 is a optional trim package. After reading all the identifying ways to verify an SS I went to inspect car today. Car has duel fuel line pass. side, Welded exhaust plate on rear of frame. power disc brakes. Think I've covered it all. Also gentleman happened to have protecto plate which matches Vin. & Cowl Tag. Still has orignal 12bolt diff that orignally had 3.31 posi. Orignal gears in box 3.73 installed. Still has orignal muncie 4 speed that matchs protecto plate. 350 numbers on block pad still jive with protecto plate. Car is mostly all there from what I can tell & lots of orignal parts, Cylinder heads older double hump no bolt holes in front. Told they were not orignal. Carb, intake, cam & headers on car now but orignal exhaust manifolds in trunk. Think I've deciphered protecto plate corectly which states that V1210HA comes out as Flint Michigan, December 10 350ci 300hp 4speed. I believe this makes it a 350 SS camaro. But putting it all together, does this spell 1969 350 Camaro SS?

Protecto plate with matching VIN and an HA engine code makes it an SS350, with manual trans. You didn't say, but does the engine have the partial VIN stamped on the pad that matches the car?
A on HA looks re-stamped? Numbers look fainter as they go. Any ideas? Vin number matches & block number matches protecto plate. Current & past owner have no idea, car was finished when they owned.
As long as the protecto plate is legit, the car is/was an SS350. As far as the engine's authenticity, proceed with caution. You have to ask yourself, if there was already an A there, why would someone restamp it?
But then, you did say the partial VIN on the engine matches the car and protecto plate. That would throw the burden of proof on the authenticity of the protecto plate.
