But it's been repainted, and not the original color. Sorry but the car is no longer a survivor, and at this point, I don't see restoring the car affecting the value in a negative way. Restoring it is going to put you upside down financially though, having way more in it than it's worth.
Yes, not a survivor anymore.
Agree with 69, you'll be into it upside down.
as for the ebay '68 SS 69 suggests, no SS came with a 10-bolt rear axle and RS option added on - no back-up lights in tail panel below rear bumper.
Also, trim tag has a fourth week of June build, but Limited Slip sticker on trunk lid is dated 7-22-68 - hmm.
But, a nice looking and cheap clone SS none the less.

Good eye on those points. I did think it a bit fishy and questionable, their description "rally sport nose". Who calls an RS like that. Also, they don't say matching #s 396, you would if it was. Still a darn nice looking one though......even for a 68!

Yes she is.
This is a nice one, but expensive for my taste:

I missed the repaint also. You can forget everything I typed. You have no idea what is under that paint. Older restoration hurt the value, if it was restored in the 80's or 90's no one was putting 1000 hours into a $6,000 car. By today's standards those restores are considered hack jobs unless proven other wise.
These car sky rocked in value around 2000. Prior to that getting more then 10K for a Camaro was unheard of unless it was super rare. I paid $6500 for my 67 RS/SS ragtop with a new paint job and fresh engine just "restored" in 1998.

Paint sucks not being original, back when she bought car it was white with black nose strip. She has a thing for silver and had car painted not to long after she bought it. Makes no cense to me but all her current vehicles are also silver, her favorite color. Other than that things seem to be all original. Vin & Cowl tag add up. Meeting with her to check numbers on power train soon and go over body panels a little more closely than I did at first look last fall. Hope she might still have protecto plate also.

If she repainted it that close to after she bought it (a few years?), and that's the same paint job since, then I doubt there would be serious cancer hiding under the paint. With that said though, my first 69 (a convertible) I bought in 1976. Even though it was a 7 year old car, it had been rusted out in the rear quarters, bondo job and repainted a different color by a previous owner, and the drivers floor was turning invisible. The "quality" of diy repair jobs of the day was fiberglass and bondo, which is how I fixed mine and then had it repainted. Take one of those weak thin refrigerator advertising magnets with you and go over every inch of the body. If there's an area where it doesn't stick very well, there is filler hiding under the paint.

I recently Purchased a1968 Camaro which surprisingly turned out to be a L30/M35. I have read a lot about the rarity of the L30/M20 but I cannot find anything on the L30/M35. Can anyone tell me how many models were built with that configuration? I also note that the engine, tranny and rear end are all VIN matching the interior is all original as well.

To the best of my knowledge there is no official information on RPO combination. They list how many SSs and how many RS but not how many RS/SS were made. Same is true for all other options. So we don't know how many RS/SS were made, although I would be temped to say there are more all original 1st gen RS/SS now then there where in 1970 ![Smile](https://camaroforums.com/forum/images/smilies/smile.gif)
There are a couple of sites that are polling owners to try and use statistics to calculate production numbers but IMO the numbers will always be skewed. For statistic to work you need an unbiased sampling. By definition the car that still survive are surviving based on biases. One car scrapped another restored based on it original options. Pretty much anything you find from here on out is a guess.
