Default 1968 327

Good afternoon,
Long time lurker, first time poster! Anyways, I have a 68’ 327 I picked up a while back off someone using it as a Porsche build. Long story short, it was rebuilt, then it sat for about a year. There’s condensation in two of the cylinders. I was going to tear it down and rebuild but the block vin is still legible. Codes are:

3914678 (casting)-1968
V08I6EE-327
18Z101350

Any idea what the chance is of tracking down the old car? Depending on the state of it, maybe buying it or selling the motor to them. Thought it’d be an interesting subject/quest haha.

my guess would be slim to none.
chances are the engine was removed because of the car being wrecked or the owner went bigger and no longer wanted it

Or hire a lawyer, or, if friends with a police person, they can look through states records and read where she's at.

There are 4 possible variables on the full VIN of the car that engine came out of.
Only one of these is the car that was built, but you would have to search for all 4 to find the winner:
124377N101350 - Norwood built coupe
124677N101350 - Norwood built convertible
124377L101350 - Van Nuys built coupe
124677L101350 - Van Nuys built convertible

First question to ask is, is there anything special about the engine. If its a base model 327, A numbers match base model is not exactly a god mine. Engines can be re-stamped so if there is an owner that cares about numbers match he may already have one. A great many of the base models where sacrificed to restore SS cars or turned into clones. I have a friend who disassembled and parted out 100's of base models back in the 80s. I guess what I am saying there could be a jar of pennies at the end of this rainbow. You are talking lotto chances but who knows.

It's a 275 h.p., 4 barrel carb, was mated to a powerglide.

If that is in fact the 275 hp 327, would you be willing to part it out (heads, intake, cam? Assuming its all original, or what do you want for the whole engine?
I have the base 327 with 210 hp in my all original car and I might be interested in this.
Thanks,
