Default 1967 RS/SS - Tach help

my 67 RS/SS Convertible, 350, 4 speed, finally took her out for a spin (first time this year) and I noticed that the tach will not go past 3k rpm.
it is a Bosch SP0F000020 Sport II 3-3/8", I have that same unit in my Falcon and on my Dodge A100 and do not have any issues. The tach is set for V8 and it wired directly to the HEI distributor. It is fine at idle and as you get going but anything past 3k it will not go past that. I do not have a rev limiter or any other components on the car. Could it be a defective Tach?
what do you guys think?

You likely need a HEI tach filter
