Default 1967 Camaro rs convertible problems

Recently purchased a 1967 rs convertible. When I try to open/lower top it keeps blowing 10amp fuse. I've order a first generation services manual, but was hoping someone on here could give me a trouble shooting ideas

Does it pop the fuse instantly or does it try to raise the top?

Electrical load can come from a lot of places. You’re your case the common one would be a weak motor or a motor that is working too hard. If the top is binding it could overload the hydraulic pump motor.

Also keep in mind a short to ground anywhere in the system can blow the fuse even the switch. Weak ground could also overload the circuit.

Pretty much blows as soon as you hit button. Top might move a little. Lots of questionable wiring on car so far that I can see. Are you talking ground for the convertible system or whole car? Do you have ideas on how to find ground problem or way of figuring if that is issue?

Might need a 20 amp fuse as other motor circuits use 20 amp fuse.
Unless specifically marked for 10 amp.
Pump should be capable of producing 350+ PSIG of oil pressure with current fed to it.
If 10 amp fuse, "Need more power, Scotty."

Thanks I'll give it a shot. Thought able using the lighter curcuit to see if that would work

FYI you can download all the 67 manual from links in the manual section on these forums. Manual section is at the bottom of the main page.

Did you try rolling all the windows down first? Disconnect the top of each cylinder rod from the top linkage. Move the top up and down by hand to see if the linkage is binding..

Good suggestion.
White grease on those pivot points.
Also, with cylinders disconnected, operate system to see if fuse blows.

Yes, white lithium grease, doesn't stink up the interior like some lubes.
