What year/type 10 bolt do you have? I just now found that I have2 10 bolts. a 8.2" and a 7.5". Turns out that guy was full of s&%t. I'd like to punch him for tricking me into carrying that axle all the way FROM ALABAMA!... But really, I am not really pleased with it.

Do you think that I would be dumb to run the 8.2" instead of something else?

I have a 12 bolt in my Firebird, an 8.2" 10 bolt in my 68 Nova and 71 Nova, an 8.5" 10 boltin my 72 Nova, and 2 spare 8.5" 10 bolts to go into the 68 and 71 Nova
If your not to hard on the 8.2" it will live for some time. An auto trans is easier on the rearend than a stick.

Yeah, but do you think that I should try to track down something else? I saw a 2nd gen camaro at the junkyard that might have a good donor in it, but I am not sure if it is the right one (corporate)... I haven't really looked at it... I'll think about it...

What are you putting it into? A 2nd gen Camaro is wider than a 1st gen Camaro.
I would run what you have till it breaks, but keep an eye out for an 8.5" from a Nova or Pontiac Ventura. There are others that will fit,

Apollo 73-75
Nova 72-75
Omega 73-75
Ventura 71-75

Print out the Nova link I posted a couple back, and take it to the junk yard with you so you will know the measurements of what will fit you car, and what the 8.5" looks like, as the 8'2" looks close

Where are you located? I just seen someone post on another forum I'm on that he seen one in a junk yard in northern Ca.

What I do is look for parts cars for around $500 and keep all the parts that I need and part out the rest. Most all of the front suspension parts from a 68-74 Nova and Ventura will fit on 1st gen Camaro's. IE: front disc brakes. And you can find the other cars a lot cheaper then Camaro's

Hope that helped

yeah it does... I appreciate the info. i think that I will end up putting that 8.2" in, but I really don't want to have to put the four link in twice... I might try to find another axle so I only have to do it once. It is still a ways off in the timeline for my project, but I want to think about it now so there aren't any surprises down there road...or should I say, as many surprises...

Mines been fine with 500hp of big block tearing into it.

Auburn gear posi, 3:73, still running c-clips and 215/65/15's being torn to shreads. Doesn't hook up for shat but that's fine with me, I'm not racing it.

Next project will be eliminating the c-clips and then changing axles and putting a set of drag radials in the trunk for play.

No, 8.5 in mine....the 8.2 is a "lighter duty" but if your not putting to much power to it, and it's built well, you'll be fine.
