What changes to the Gen V should be made for Gen VI??
I don't see how if they collapse they should be illegal
In all honesty, if you read any review of any of the new Camaros, you will find pretty much all the things that should be improved: weight, visibility, interior, etc. The exterior design of the car is probably already 90% finalized. Other than option packages and stuff like that, I really don't think there is anything that any of us can say that will affect any of GM's decision-making.

Todays buyers are all about customization, whether its houses, vehicles, or even golf clubs. Everyone wants their pride and joy to be unique. Unfortunately that leads to a tough re-sale market, but thats not the question at hand. If it were my money, I would want a camaro that doesn't have unnecessary things. 4000#curb weight is ridiculous and can be reduced by removing things we don't want. I may speak for the minority, but give me a stylish car with a modern motor that makes more HP than my carb'd stroker with decent gas mileage (I know they have done this for a while now) and cut it out with all the touch screen, heads up display, and distraction electronics options. The motor doesn't seem to be the problem or the trans/rear configs, although some want lower ratio...thats fine. Does the interior need to have all the glitz and glam...not to mention weight? I realize this is not an FBody, so it will be heavier, but to me this car like the vette(and mustang to a degree) has gotten bigger and bigger with each passing revision. Like greenmamba said, whats wrong with a pure performance car that doesn't rely on luxury car extras? I can't see spending close to 50G when I can get a good three(ish) year old vette for the same price and similar insurance? ZL1...cool, but not that cool.
I think they missed the mark when they decided to not go more retro in the 5th gen Camaros, and the Mustangs and Challengers both got closer to making a retro car that resembled the original more.
I'm not a fan of the deep body, and lowered roof look, and I'd like to see them at least change the body to a lower profile, and give the side windows more height.
I'd also like to see the tail section revamped so it looks more like a Camaro, and less like a Corvette. The four tailights should morph to one rectangular, and get rid of that black lower panel that only looks good if you choose to get a black car. On everything else it looks like a mismatched bolt on item.
And why not offer a real spoiler? Not some tiny little thing that looks like it does next to nothing? Not some rice rocket wing either!
Other than that it's great!

I am a huge fan of the 5th gen, not to say that i dont love my 4th gen. I have only had the privilege of driving the 5th gen a few times, the cisability issue doesnt both me, im used to it......4th gen driver here. I would like to see the same overall styling but morphed into a more smaller, more sleek aerodynamic look. I would not be upset if they did a redesign with the model of the second gen as a template. smaller body and wheels (17, 18, 19's)
my 2 cents

I'd say offer a camaro with a big *** engine, racing style interior (bare necessities only like 2 racing bucket seats, maybe a radio, no AC or heat, gauges and of course a roll cage) Maybe have some racing aero parts as well.
I agree with Scooch entirely. The 4th gen, even in its last year was a very poor seller. It was lack of interest that killed the car the first time.
Dont forget that back in its last year, a fully optioned 2002 F-Body was so pricey that it was within striking range from a Corvette. So for obvious reasons people went for the Corvette for a few thousand more.
I remember seeing a fully optioned out 2002 WS6 Trans Am on the dealer floor for close to $38k back in 2001.
That completely nullified the car's purpose which always was performance on a budget, or the Poor Mans Corvette.

The Camaro is heavy, overpriced, and the retro look was old about a month after it was out. Show me something new that doesn't destroy my checkbook and then we can talk about the changes we'd like to see. Until then, I'll continue to make improvements to the one thing I know I can live with...MY HOUSE.
I disagree. They didn't spend a boatload. They pulled from the parts bin. Everything was already designed except the shell. And they should like others stated, continue with the 4th Gen look. It still looks completely modern and slim. Not like a dead bloated deer carcus as does the 5th. And not having many options isn't fun when ordering. And how can you have a camaro without a Z28? GM has a lot of work ahead of them if they want to stop former camaro lovers from buying Mustangs as is what is going on now. I've never met so many new Mustang owners who used to own camaros.
