Default LS vs. LT?

So there's an LT1, an LT2, and an LS? Other than price I make out no difference. Is it just trim?

I want the car for racing, would that mean I should get the LS?

these motors ur referencing are v8s. this doesnt need to be in the v6 section.
ill fix that in a second.

also: there is an lt1, lt4, and lt5 (i believe, but i dont know what makes the 5). these are genII series SBC's (small block chevy).

the genIII SBC started with the ls1, and then grew to include the ls6, ls2, ls3, ls7, and ls9. the ls1 and ls6 are the same motor w/ different head/cam/intake. the ls2 is a 6.0 and the ls3 is a 6.2. the ls7 is a 427 and the ls9 is a 6.2L s/c. there are also other LS based motors for the luxury and truck models.

you can race either motor just fine. I am of course biased toward the ls1, but lt1's can make pretty decent power at a good price.

wait wait wait.... theres a chance im being retarded lol....

if ur talking about the trim codes as far as ls and lt goes, its actually 1LT and 2LT, not LT2. the motors are the same in either instance i believe. but they may have different electronic controls.

Well, I guess that makes me retarded too, because you're right, it is

2dr Coupe LS [$22,245]
2dr Coupe 1LT [$23,880]
2dr Coupe 2LT [$26,580]

Updating this, I just did stumble across some info:

LS – 300-horsepower 3.6L
V6 DI engine, 18-inch Heritage
steel wheels, StabiliTrak®
Stability Control System with
Traction Control, ABS, six
air bags, OnStar® and XM®
Satellite Radio, all standard

LT – adds 18- or 19-inch
aluminum wheels, fog lamps,
6-way power driver’s seat,
interior ambient lighting
and more

So I get the feeling I can stick with the LS for racing, and think about an LT as a daily driver.

what kind of racing are you talking about? the ls3 is a better option if you are wanting to go fast. the fact that its an ls motor means you already have a TON of aftermarket for it

the LS, 1LT and 2LT are all V6. They all have the same engine and everything under the hood.

They differ by their trim levels. For example, ls and 1LT have 18" wheel while 2lt has 19" wheel. and plus and minus all the luxury options

I want to go SSB in the SCCA, so I'd use the V6. The V8 appears to be on the agenda for GT1, but I'm not in the 6 figure racecar league. SSB will be a $7-10k mod involving a rollcage, racing seat, fire extingusher, etc., but still racing with less pricey parts.

Right now I'm trying to agitate for the 'Homologation.'

Oh, and wouldn't it be GREAT if Chevrolet realized that Pontiac had the right idea with the Solstice ZOK, the Club Sport Package, and started putting out a stripped down Camaro with no AC, etc., since the racers would just take that stuff out anyway?

It would also be great if GM had a book like they did for the Solstice.

I plan on going with the LT2 - because I want the leather and the interior features. If you plan on modifying the interior with racing seats and sound systems - then go with the LS.
