Test Drove a SS today - Impressions
I test drove a black SS with auto trans today and frankly, was very disappointed. Exterior views, front, side and rear looking out from the inside are pretty bad. More importantly, the exhaust made very little sound and there was no feeling of the muscle cars I've owned in the past. Although I think the exterior styling is awesome, the interior doesn't do it for me, lot's of cheap looking plastic. The ride was firm but compliant and would probably do well as a daily driver. However, I felt like I was driving a Malibu. Maybe the 6 speed (and a good aftermarket exhaust) will resolve some of my dislikes but the visceral feel of the new camaro is lacking. If you have a chance to test drive a 2010 Mustang and/or a new Challenger back to back, you will know what I'm talking about.
Also, a caution to anyone over 6' tall. I'm 6'1" and my head was touching the ceiling in a camaro with a sunroof. You loose about 2 inches with the sunroof so you may want to sit in one before you buy. I could angle the seat back further, but that would have made the exterior view even worse.
The camaro is still a lot bang for the buck, probably more so than the mustang and challenger, but until I drive a 6 speed SS, the cards are still out for me.

The Challenger is 4200 pounds and, in my opinion, is just a 300M with different skin on it.
Personally I am not fond of the new Camaro's interior or exterior styling. Maybe it will grow on me, maybe not. It sure doesn't have sleek lines of Camaros past.

Drove an RT 6 Speed Challenger at the dealer. I got a Camaro and I'm trying to convince my wife to get a Challenger. That's the most fun I had driving a car in a long time!

Planet Dodge in Miami Florida. They have all three (SRT8,RT and SE) for you to test drive.
I'll be honest as much as it hurts. These Challengers are good.
No doubt they are good cars, but they are big, heavy and cumbersome.
I personally don't like the direction the Challenger, Camaro and Mustang are taking lately. There IS a reason those body shapes went out of style 40 years ago.
I was hoping the newest Camaro would be an evolution of the 4th Generation Camaro. Seems like the only car that has stayed true to itself is the Corvette.
