Hi. I just purchased a 2015 Camaro SS (V8 engine, of course)) with HUD. The HUD should show "shift timing lights" in format 4 HUD according to the owners manual. The car is still in the break-in phase so I don't want to exceed approximately 3500 rpm. While in HUD format 4, I see the proper display (speed and G-meter) but no shift timing lights ever - even as I approach 3500 rpm. When are these "shift timing lights" supposed to appear? The owners manual says that the "shift timing lights" appear "with increases in rpm" but does not specify what rpm should cause those "shift timing lights" to appear.
Another question - what would be the approximate best rpm shift point for NORMAL daily (in city) driving? I tend to think that shifting up around 2500 rpm (with rpm drop to about 1900 in the next gear) represents a good compromise for adequate performance without lugging the engine while in city traffic with 35 - 40 mph speed limits.
Another question - what would be the approximate best rpm for NORMAL daily highway speeds (65 - 70 mph)? Again, I think 1900 rpm in 5th or 6th gear on level ground seems to be a good compromise for adequate performance without lugging the engine.
My previous car was a Honda accord (manual transmission) with 200 horsepower so I am really loving this new ride with the LS3 engine and a short shifter. Thank you for your helpful input.

Congrats on the new buy.
Not a 5th gen owner, but, shift lights usually come on flashing when hitting the yellow zone on a std tach and stay on when hit the red zone.

You will have to experiment with shifting and cruising.
If I have a heavy foot in my SS, I get 20 MPG, light foot, 24 MPG.
If I want to increase speed heavily, I downshift to 5th, or lightly, stay in 6th.
Experiment and keep tabs of MPG - a good indicator.

I bought my Dually new in '88 and OM's stated no trailering for the first 500 miles.
My Late Wife said since we bought this nice looking new Dually, you bet we're trailering the race car to the local track.
Later, 250 miles, trailered the same from Va Beach to Bristol TN for the Bracket ET Nationals.
To this day, Dually has ran great with 79K miles on the clock.
Race car was a 11.90/1/4 mile '68 Camaro.
