Real world MPG
Hi!
I really love the new Camaros out there and have been toying with the possibility of getting one....however I'm a little thrown off by all the different ratings on the MPG that they get. The dealer sticker rates it at a crazy 42 MPG hwy on the V6!! If only.....
Any feedback from the real world drivers out there on the MPG that their cars get???
I'm specifically looking at the V6 as I do a lot of driving....approx 100km or 50 miles a day round trip to and from work.
Thanks!

It safe to assume you're in Canada? Canadian dealers post up the mpg in L/100km and UK mpg, for some reason, rather than US mpg. My Cobalt is apparently capable of 49 mpg on the highway, going by the window sticker
The V6 Camaro is rated at 17 city, 29 highway with the manual and 18 city, 29 highway with the auto.
I don't have one myself, but I'd expect 24-25 mpg on average. More if you know how to drive economically.

Depends on your city. 95% of my driving is in town, and the city I live in pride themselves in setting up the traffic lights so you have to stop at every one of them. If you floor it light to light you can make it...but then the cops are there to talk to you. I average 15.4 but that also depends week to week.
Funny, I forgot about this and found it right when I was going to start a new thread.
So, with carefully driving and shifting at around 2K being in 5th at 30mph. To be fair I drove alot on the highway today. But I reset the gas milage thing a few days ago.
I am at 18.8 right now. Totally not worth the effort to get 1 more mile out of a gallon, sorry environment its just true. Plus feeling like I'm driving like a 90 year old woman just isnt for me. I cant even make it through the whole tank of gas like this to tell you the best I can get.

New guy here with my first Camaro, a 2011 1LT coupe with auto tranny, with almost 1100 miles on it. About 600 of those miles were on the interstate at 75 mph, the other 500 around town and on 55 mph roads. Right now, I'm averaging about 21.3 mpg overall.
I bought my LS3 M6 January 13th this year, used with 15k miles on it. Just nicely broken in. The purchase was made with eyes wide open so I know my LS3 isn't a Yaris or Fix that will get 42 mpg. It's an air gulping, gas guzzling, pavement wrinkler wrapped in an eye-arresting body. That's why I love it and that's why bought it. (It works better than the pace maker my cardiologist offered me and it's half the cost!)
That said, the only time I don't like the car is when it's time to replenish the fuel supply. On my first tank, consumed while driving around town and just a bit of highway, I got 11.88 mpg. Yikes! On the next tank of gasoline, I decided to try modifying my driving habits a bit; shifting earlier, cruising at between 1.5 and 2k rpm...and like that. I'm not done with the second tank yet so can't tell you about how my conservative driving is affecting the fuel consumption rate.
What I want to know from anyone who cares to respond and who also owns an LC3 M6, how do you drive around town to conserve fuel? What simple (emphasis on simple) modifications could I make, beside installing a CAI, to enhance fuel economy?
I thank you in advance for taking the time to respond to my questions.

I'm pretty easy on my V6. I've had it for about a year. It has 7300 miles on it and I haven't reset the average mpg meter since I bought it. It was at 24.0-.2 for the longest time, now it's at 23.6. Overall, I'm happy with the fuel economy. It's awesome for what you have with this type of car.
