Is it possible to remove the onstar? The dealer seemed horrified when I wouldn't let him set up Onstar, before I drove away. I don't want it - anything that is capable of controlling my car is not welcome in it.

You can unplug the unit, it should be tucked away/buried somewhere in your trunk. But keep in mind you won't have the tracking device if the car is stolen (a feature that can still be used if you're not paying for the service), as well as accident notification. Since Onstar is tied into your keyless entry, door locks, and air bag systems, I would do some digging to make sure none of those are going to be disabled in the process. And finally, before doing anything, I would call your insurance company and ask them about any possible ramifications in disconnecting Onstar. You're most likely getting a discount in your premium for having Onstar. Without telling the ins. co. first, they just may come after you for compensation after a claim.

That's funny... and yes, it means I am not getting in the car - it goes back to dealer tomorrow, loan cancelled and me happy.
