Default Oil filter change

Hey guys, new here but have a question about the wifes car. She has the V-6, and I was going to change the oil on it as soon as she gets it broken in. Went to the parts store, and the filter they gave me is a cannister type filter. Is this correct? I havent crawled under the car to look, but is there an o-ring around the housing for this cannister that can be reused or do you have to replace it everytime?

I am not a newbie to wrenching, just didnt know if this was the right filter, since they didnt have a book out that covered it and had to look it up.

Yeah it's the right filter. Inspect the o-ring on the housing and if it is cracked or looks like it needs to be replaced do it. More than likely it doesn't but inspect it to make sure anyway. Enjoy!

Thanks pezlow. I probably ought to buy an o-ring and keep it on hand.
