Default hello

new member here i've been on corvette forum for years now i have an 02 z06. last week i went out and got a new auto ss with the paddle shifter. yes the wife wanted an auto! my question is when in manual mode the response time when up-shifting is very slow and trans does'nt shift hard. was wondering if thats the design or do i have a problem?

I'd say that's teh design. The trannies are setup for the smoothest most comfortable ride. Put a shift kit in for harder, quicker shifts. My friend has one in his car, really does make a difference.

yeah but in regular auto mode it shifts nice and hard. why have a paddle shift option if response time is crap! i can shift my vette faster than the paddles!

Its like that in every car I've ever driven that has a "sport mode" or paddle style shifters, so I'd say your car is operating ok. There are probably kits out there for other paddle shift cars, maybe you can rig something up.
