Default First Oil Change as 'New' Owner

Hi everyone, I am new to this forum and have just recently purchased a 2010 1SS Camaro. So far gotta say I really love the car and look forward to owning.

So my question is, I am the second owner of this car and have had it for two days, today I went in to get an oil change done. GM dealers are closed so I went to a Mr. Lube! I did check myself prior the condition and it was pretty black, and so I got the Mobil 1 Synthetic SAE 5W-30. I also got a flush done as this was recommended by the service guy as this oil was black and 'over due'. After reading the manual I noticed there was a caution to NOT do a flush as it could cause engine damage and in turn void warranty coverage. (Yes this was a big fail on my part for reading this after). Also I had decided to go ahead with this due to any potential micro particles....

Has anyone else gone ahead and done this ? (Flush). Just also want to mention the oil life reading on the car was 18% ... Should I have waited a little longer ? KM's are 12,500. As the 'new' owner I have put about 30KM's on.

that flush you did should not hurt your engine. gm put that in the owners manual to cover their butts. some shops use a bad additive that could potentially hurt your engine but i think you sould be fine. usually you sould get the oil changed at 12% or below. and just so you know that mobil 1 is REQUIRED in your engine. typically the only time you need to get an engine oil flush is when you have sludge in the engine.
