Default Camaro SS Tires and rims

I bought a set of take off 18 inch winter tires and rim for my 2010 SS. They won't fit on the front because of an arm with rollers protruding from the brakes cylander. I can't find anyone who knows what these arms are for, not even the dealer. My cousin has a earlier production model that these are not present. Any suggestions?

The "arm with rollers" are weights on the Brembo pads. You may not need to sell the wheels if you are willing to remove the existing pads and install aftermarket pads without the weights.

Some people have gone to ceramic pads to try to avoid brake noise. The reason these weights are on the pads is to prevent squealing when you're braking.

Hope this helps...

Hey Thanks. That is the first thing that I've heard that made sense. I did buy a set of winter tires and had them mounted on the regular rims, which will be a pain every season. It's also probably not good for the tires. Thanks for the info.

No problem. I will be purchasing an 18" Rim and Tire combo from the Tirerack.com for winter. I believe it is around $2000, but it will save wear and tear on mounting and dismounting tires each winter/spring. Both on the tires and the rims. And I can switch them myself instead of going to a shop and having them swap tires.

Hey CanuckSS. Would you be interested in the set I have I can't use? I doubt I will replace the brakes to allow me to use these I bought before I found out they wouldn't fit. If you want pics and more info, email me at jjenkins@anchorabrasives.com. I would like to get $800 plus shipping.
