Just my opinion, but I really don't think that 3 years from Concept unveiling to in dealer showrooms is too long. Would you rather they throw together a bunch of stuff from the parts bins just to get it out there or take their time as they did with the new Zeta platform, completely test and integrate everything and get it right? Not coming out? I think I heard someone else mention that same mis-information, I think you can safely ignore it as Lutz, Scott Settlemire, Peper, et al have all said it's a go and in showrooms 1st quarter of '09.

At some point in a car models life cycle, if enough people don't buy it then it will likely be cancelled. While Camaro enthusiasts may have still supported it in 1998-2002, the car buying public at large was not buying enough units for it to make sense to continue production. It's a shame that had to happen, but now it is coming back and I think it will be much better than the 4th gens. were for everybody concerned, car buying public and enthusiasts.
