So after reading the manual, it looks like my car (V6) uses normal oil and only the (V8) came with synthetic oil from the factory.

If this is true, when should I get my first oil change? Should I go with synthetic? (I have about 3500 miles on her and the GM monitor says i have about 47% oil life left.)

Change your oil around 25% or when the message comes across the screen and you should be fine.
