You've got a 275 horse 3500lb pig, not to sound offensive, but that's not a fast car. Probably would run mid 14's. That Camaro makes 426 horse straight from the factory, and should run high 12's if he can drive. It's not a competition.

A 318 is a good motor and all but lets get real,it's no match for a new SS Camaro or even an older LT1 like my '93 Z28.
I had a great running 318 shortbox stepside Dodge pickup with a 4.11 posi and it was snappy but the 318 is no real powerhouse.
I had a buddy in high school that had a brand new '73 Roadrunner 340/4speed.
It was pretty fast but I'd run one like it with my '93 Z28 in a heartbeat.
I had a roommate back in '76 who had a '70 GTX440 six pack, now that was a pretty fast Mopar back in the day but even that would likely get put down by a new SS Camaro, for that mater a 1st gen big block SS396 Camaro would probably get taken out as well.
These newer cars really hook up and make a lot more power per cubic inch than the muscle cars of yesteryear, the old cars rock on style and class points though.
I so wish I had my '69 427 4 speed Camaro back even though it only got 7 mpg, wouldn't corner and couldn't stop worth beans.

in the 1/8th mile it would depend on gears. if your running 456 or higher in the mopar and stock in the camaro it would be a good race.

I have a 93 z28 6 speed and I wouldnt care if it was from a dig or a roll, I'm sure it would destroy even a built 318. Like craby said, it might stand a chance in the 1/8 with super low gears but I really think you probably think that roadrunner is something that its not. I really like roadrunners and also a 318 is a very good and reliable engine but even if that roadrunner had a 383 or 440, It would still lose to a 4th gen z28. I've had every generation of camaro except for 1st and the 4th gens are no IROC. The 4th gens are just so much better in every way. I'm sure you have a nice car, I just dont think its as fast as you think it is, even if its "built to the gills".

theres some general statements in there..just because you might have a fast 4th gen it doesn't mean that your car would beat a built 318, 383 or 440..it depends on what hp and tq each engine is pushing out along with suspension, rear gears, tires, etc...and i wouldn't say that 4th gens are so much better in every way

but a stock 318, the 2010 ss would kill the roadrunner

Yeah, I really shouldn't said "built to the gills". A stock to stock roadrunner wouldnt stand a chance. Unless you get built upward of 450 horse, you would loose. UNLESS you could hook that power up with a built suspension and slicks. I dont know about a first gen because I've never had one but as far as performance, handling, comfort and fun, the 4 gen is by far a better car. All camaros are sweet though.

All things equal, in a drag race it boils down to pounds per HP, the lesser the lb per HP the faster the car. You 318 is totally outclassed.

True. Also, how all that power gets put down. I had an 81 thats in my pics dynoed at 435 horse 489 torque and my almost stock 93 would eat it up. Everything needs to work together. My dads old 87 vette tore me up in that 81 and it had 245 horse ? torque but it all worked together through the tranny, gears and rearend. Yeah, we could take a pinto and beat almost anything with the time and money. I'm talking just more stock or mild. I think thats what he meant on the roadrunner. Like I said, I shouldnt have said built to the gills. He could put a lot of money and 1000 horsepower and kill my camaro.
