Default LSI reputation, longevity??

This year my lease ends on my pontiac. I was planning on buying my brothers v6 camaro from him but if thats falls through I like to step up and buy a z28 LS1 camaro.

How long are these engines know to last for?

Are all V8 camaros from 98-02 LS1s?
What kind of numbers are they known to produce at the track?
gas mileage with a 6 speed?

The engines are as durable as an LT1: well cared for an not abused, they can go to 200K miles. I saw one go 175000 miles and it was drag raced about every other weekend.

All 98-02 Camaro and Firebird V8s are LS1s. 2001 models have the LS6 intake manifold so they make 5 more HP.
The standard Z28, and Firebird V8 was rated at 305 (310 after 2001) but was really running about 320. Dyno tests prove it.
The SS model and the Firebird WS6 models were rated at more HP (320-335) and they got what little they had over the standard model because of a CAI and cat back exhaust - the engines were the same.

A stock LS1 Z28 manual trans can do low 13s in the 1/4 mile stock - with drag slicks and luck, in the high 12s (I know, I did it).

The M6 gets good mileage around town and on highway. Not much worse than a V6, maybe one less in town and the same on the highway.

I have a 163k miles on my motor right now and it has been beat on, I changedthe oil every 2500 miles and only use royal purple, flushed out the radiator every 50,000 miles, and I still dont have one single problem.

with this many miles and only having a cat-back and a lid, I ran 13.1's in the 1/4
