Ok... i have an 84 camaro with a 355 with around 10:1 compression. i also have a turbo off a diesel mercedes, and an edelbrock 750 carb. I am very mechanically inclined but i have very little knowing of turbos 'n such, anywho, what do i have to do to make these work on my car... or is it worth it? thanks for any help.

i think that might be to much compression to run a tubro with. but in order to make it work you will need a header to fit your engine as well as the turbo and get the other pipes made up for it. Also a good idea to find out if the turbo can handle that high of a revolution cause diesel engines run at low rpm's

frank is right. i would not run a turbo on any motor over 8.5:1, 9:1 pushing it..
if you absoliutely have to have a turbo, go to a junk yard and find a turbo off a mid 90's eclipse GST or GSX.. they are not too big, and can handle any revs a 355 can provide..
if you are going to boost it, run MAYBE 6psi when on track.. 4 on the street.. you don't want to mess with high compression motors and adding forced induction.. as for mounting the turbo, if you don't want to waste the money on getting a custom manifold made, you can put the turbo in the rear of the car, and run a boost pipe from the rear of the car in to your engine bay. Thats what my turbo set up is going to be. i've already got most of the parts for it now, just lacking the turbo and wastegate.. this way you also get cooler air on the turbo, and it won't run so hot..

Turbos run better with hotter gas though, so you may want to make your own mani. The thing with a DIY turbo mani, if you don't just "log" manifold it (bad idea to do that...), you want each pipe to be of equal length by the time they get to the turbo. If you can swing the design, it will work fine.
