do i need to beef up my engine. such as internals. pistons and such. or would it be safe to put nitrous on a lightly modded car. if it is safe what shot and brand should i get for my Lt1? I appreciate the help. thanks guys

ive asked that same question and everyone has told me that no i dont have to do anything... but to make sure to change the spark plugs and wires...they also so to go with the "wet" systems because with the dry systems you have the chance that the car will run lean.

It depends how much nitrous you are going to use. Without beefing up the internals, and the egine in good mechanical shape, I would stay below 150 shot. Make sure everything is installed correctly according to instructions, and yes make sure the ignition & injection are in perfect condition. I would also install plugs one or two ranges colder to help avoid detonation.

Pete is exactly right, watch how much nitrous you use. A friend of mine has a 96 T/A and it had the Lt1 in it and he ran nitrous through it and melted down the engine, so he rebuilt the engine to a 383 stroker and is running 100 shot nitrous with no problem. So just be carefeull how much you use.
